The installations in front of the tapestry

"Discover... Secrets of the Trade"

"Discover... Forgotten Facts"

"Discover... Hidden Passion"
Each of the works I created is an interactive installation. When a viewer sits on the stool, the work comes to life and starts a personal conversation, telling the viewer about a different aspect of the tapestry, and sharing an intimate secret with them.

A weaver talks about her trade

Emperor Vespasian talks about his Colosseum

Maarten van Heemskerck talks about his passion for the Colosseum
I was given a lot of freedom in creating this project.
From concept to execution, writing to editing, and let's not forget building:

Concept mockup for placement and form

Weaving the threads for the loom, in the middle of an office

Maarten van Heemskerck was brought to life by actor Tom van den Bergh

Creating the roman bust. Actor Rob Boas played emperor Vespasian

Creating the mirror/screen illustion. The weaver was portrayed by actress Marjan Boets

Due to time constraints, I could not build the woodwork for the haute-lisse loom myself. I did design the plans for it.

Creating the stools that activate the installations
